Helpful Tips for Making the Best Smoothie:
Smoothies are one of the easiest healthy meals to make. Simply add your favorite fruits and veggies into a blender with liquid, blend, and enjoy! Here are some tips to make the absolute best smoothie possible:
- I strongly recommend adding in protein powder to your smoothies. Not only do they help thicken the texture, it’s one of the easiest ways to get more protein into your diet. 2 scoops of the protein powder used in this recipe SPROUT LIVING MATCHA PROTEIN POWDER contains 17g of protein!
- For this recipe, I used fresh mint. If you don’t have access to fresh mint, use a drop or 2 of peppermint extract.
- If you want a thicker consistency, add another banana. Make sure they are frozen and chopped into smaller pieces. If they’re thrown in whole, your blender will get stuck and have trouble blending.
- Don’t add ice if you want a thick smoothie. Ice melts quickly, and it will make your smoothie too liquid-y.
Confused? Here are some frequently asked questions:
1. Is there a way to meal prep smoothies?
Yes! Add all of your ingredients to a reusable bag and store in the freezer. When you’re ready, throw it into a blender with liquid. It’ll last months!
2. How much protein is in this smoothie?
If you use all of the ingredients we recommend, you’ll find 31g of protein in one smoothie.
3. What are the benefits of a Matcha Mint Chip Smoothie?
This smoothie packs in over 30 grams of protein, which help to build muscles which in turn protect your bones and organs. The green color comes from mint leaves and spinach which contain vital nutrients you need to survive and thrive, plus benefits including:
- Better brain function.
- Improved digestion.
- Boosted immune system.
- Improved oral health.
4. Is this smoothie safe for kids?
Yes, just remove the protein powder as they do NOT need as much protein as adults and it can give them a tummy ache. Protein powder should also not be the main source of protein for kids. Speak with your doctor to find out when you can introduce protein powder. I highly recommend the brand Sprout Living.
