Quick Homemade Laxative: Prune Orange Juice with Chia Seeds

Learn how to make a quick homemade laxative to relieve constipation naturally and support a healthy digestive system.

Ingredients

  • 16 oz Pitted Prunes
  • Hot Water, for soaking prunes
  • 5 cups Coconut Water, can sub for filtered water
  • 3 cups Fresh Orange Juice
  • 1 thumb Ginger Root
  • 4 Kiwis, peeled
  • ½ Lemon, juice from
  • 3 tbsp Chia Seeds
  • ¾ cup Water, to soak chia seeds in

Instructions

Soak the Prunes:

  • Place the dried prunes in a bowl and cover them with 2 cups of hot water. Let them soak for 30 minutes until softened.

Prepare the Chia Seeds:

  • In a small bowl, combine chia seeds with water and let them sit until gel-like. Set aside.

Blend the Juice:

  • Drain the soaked prunes then add to a blender. Add the orange juice, lemon juice, ginger, kiwis, and coconut water. Blend until smooth.

Stir in Chia Seeds:

  • Pour the juice into a pitcher and gently stir in the soaked chia seeds. This recipe filled TWO 34oz pitchers with a bit leftover, so I divided the juice and chia seeds between the two pitchers.

Serve and Enjoy:

  • Drink immediately or refrigerate for up to 4 days. Stir well before serving if stored to avoid the chia seeds clumping together.
